GA Tuition Tax Credit - Alyn Scholarship Fund

Georgia Taxpayers can pre-pay a portion of their state income tax liability and donate it to the Alyn Scholarship Fund. In return, they'll receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for the amount donated. It's the same taxes you're going to owe, but now you get to direct it to any Georgia private school(s) of your choosing and it costs you nothing to do so. By itemizing your federal taxes, you can also claim the amount donated as a charitable contribution which reduces your tax liability. By pre-paying a portion of your state taxes and donating them through this program, you will earn money by reducing your federal tax bill. "A penny saved is a penny earned." Benjamin Franklin

When it comes to education, there is no "one size fits all" solution. The vast majority of students do quite well in traditional public schools, but others find their educational needs are better met in a different setting. When that setting is a private education, the Alyn Scholarship Fund is here to lend a helping hand. Though financial assistance, the Alyn Scholarship Fund gives parents educational choices that they may not have otherwise had. Every parent wants the very best for their child and every parent would like to have more than one educational choice. We support parents and families in finding the right educational setting for their children.

The Tuition Tax Credit program gives donors a unique opportunity to keep more of their hard earned money within their local economy. Instead of sending their money to Atlanta as taxes where only a portion comes bak to their community, donors can designate that their local private schools receive the money. Donors get to support families and students in their own communities while also helping to stimulate their local economy through teacher salaries, the schools buying goods and supplies, expanding facilities and the like. The state of GA is required to provide an education to every child who is a citizen. This program meets that requirement and saves the State about $5,000 per student.

The Georgia Tuition Tax Credit Program began in 2008 with a $50 million annual fund cap and, to date, has seen more that $300 million donated. The annual cap has since been raised to $58 million as thousands of deserving students benefit from the program each year. The Tuition Tax Credit program gives parents the financial means to exercise more choice in where their children receive an education. This program helps level the playing field across socio-economic demographics and gives parents additional educational choices. That's a win for parents and students.

Georgia taxpayers who donate to the program get dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their state taxes and can itemize their federal taxes to also count their contribution as a charitable git. This is a win for tax payers as it saves them money. Through the Alyn Scholarship Fund, we give parents two ways to secure scholarship assistance. We work alongside private schools who wish to conduct the scholarship process themselves and we also accept scholarship applications directly from parents.
